NO LONGER NOT YET
I’ve lived most of my life near working landscapes: farms, factories, ranches, small towns. These are places of the American Midwest: flown over, driven by, and mostly ignored. As the land changes much is left behind. These are scenes that recall what used to be, quiet as nature reclaims it’s prominence. I’ve come to see the beauty in the patina of these places, both on their surface and in their ambiance. My images explore these landscapes and the in-between they inhabit.
Much of the rural Midwest is emptying, leaving behind markers of a fading culture. These markers connect to my memory of a different time that left a deep impression on me. I’ve driven miles on rural back roads, approaching each new crossroads like an archaeologist, hunting for clues about a time past. This work presents these places as they are, but hint at the stories beneath the surface.
